HVAC Transformation for Auckland Offices

Challenge

Charged with repurposing the old data centre into a modern office space, Chilltech accepted the highly intricate job of decommissioning the outdated systems and ensuing installation of a new HVAC plant, whilst maintaining the systems throughout the remainder of the building.

Solution

To ensure minimal downtime and a smooth transition while work was underway, the project was strategically broken down into multiple phases. The project was initiated with the careful disconnection and removal of the fire suppression system, followed by the cessation and removal of the process coolers, which required meticulous planning for the seamless extraction of this equipment. Chilltech then tackled the careful disconnection of electrical infrastructure, including the UPS room, backup generators and switchboard rooms to avoid disruptions and guarantee the safety of all personnel involved.

The culmination of the project was the subsequent installation of new chilled water air conditioning systems, designed specifically to enhance energy efficiency and provide optimal climate control for the office environment along with the integration of fresh air systems to ensure a healthy, comfortable and compliant indoor environment.

Outcome

The successful execution of this project, whilst maintaining the systems throughout the remainder of the building is a testament to Chilltech’s ability to manage large and intricate projects. From the disconnection of the existing systems to the installation of the new ones, the team’s careful and meticulous planning ensures minimal downtime and a smooth transition from a once-old data centre to a modern office space.
