A balanced pressure home ventilation system is different in that it extracts the stale moist air from inside your home and replaces it with fresh warm, dry air at the same time. This system involves a heat exchanger in the roof that collects and recycles the heat from the stale air to the fresh air stream continuously warming and drying the incoming air. This process helps control condensation in your home. In this system, up to 95% of the heat from the stale air is recovered when it goes through the heat exchanger and is returned into your home in the fresh air. The greatest benefit of this system, is the fact that it performs best in the winter months when typically condensation is at it’s highest, and doesn’t rely on the suns heat to warm the fresh air – as it recycles the heat from inside the house (unlike the positive pressure system).
You should consider a balanced system if:
You have a newer house (newer houses are much more airtight and this system expels air from a vent rather than pushing it out through the house like in the positive pressure system).
You want the system to work effectively all throughout the year.
